What is laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring consists of a bas made of a core layer. This is usually a high-density fiberboard (HDF), but sometimes MDF or particleboard is also used. There is a backing layer on the bottom. The top of the core has a printed design layer and a clear wear layer for durability.

  • Versatility
Because of the printed layer, there are many options available to choose from now a days. There has always been the look of natural wood, but that has changed. Now you can get almost any style you can imagine. There is from stone, tile, concrete to exotic hardwoods.

  • Benefits of laminate flooring
Not only is there a wide selection of styles, it is also a durable, low maintenance and easy to clean floor. With its protective layer, it makes it scratch resistant for high wear areas. This makes a good flooring for houses with children and pets.

  • Comfortable footing
Laminate flooring is considered a floating floor since it is not nailed or glued down to the substrate. It instead rests on top of a foam underlayment. This makes for comfortable footing when walking upon it.
